Louis van Dijk is 55 years old and has been a valued member of Broshuis for 26 years. Outside of work, he has been for 30 years and is the proud father of a son (who also works at Broshuis), and two daughters. He started at the age of 29 as a Mechanic in the Assembly after his previous employer relocated. Through an introduction with Wilbert Elhorst and Richard Jansen, he found his place in the Container Line. What began as his first step in production grew into a career defined by development, collaboration, and pride.
“At first, I worked on the Container Line, then in Hall 4, and when Hall 1 had just been renovated, I moved to Assembly. Eventually, I became the line coordinator for the flatbed trailers, and now I coordinate the F-Line, where we produce everything from flatbed trailers to semis and GE trailers. The great thing is that all of this happens in collaboration with an amazing team, and I’m proud of that.”
For Louis, Broshuis means much more than just work. “We really have to do it together, and this collaboration with colleagues is what truly makes Broshuis for me. I’ve been given the opportunity to develop and grow.”
Trust
According to him, the strength of Broshuis lies in relationships and trust. “In recent years, I’ve felt very supported here by colleagues both within and outside my department. I’ve built really great relationships and still regularly keep in touch with these colleagues. It’s no longer just about work, but also about who we are as individuals. The experience I’ve gained and the opportunities I’ve been given here have taught me so much about myself. From this place, I also enjoy helping other colleagues.”
Louis values the open culture within the company. “You can walk up to a management team member or HR with confidence. They’re simply people who are approachable and have helped me develop further. That’s how we work together in the company, so that we all have a fulfilling and rewarding job.”
