Four new semi low loaders
Reliable solutions are created by listening closely to real-world practice. That is why we are proud of the recent expansion of the fleet of KOCH Spezialtransporte GmbH & Co. KG with four custom-built 4-axle Broshuis semi low loaders. A logical choice for a transport company that has been operating successfully with Broshuis equipment in both national and international heavy transport for many years.
Stefan Koch, owner of Koch Spezialtransporte, explains: “We specialise in the transport of construction machinery and precast concrete elements. For transporting construction machinery, we mainly use 4-axle Broshuis semi low loaders. At the moment, we already have 25 identical Broshuis semis in operation. And now four more are being added!”
The decision to expand the fleet with these Broshuis trailers is based on their proven reliability and robustness, qualities that have demonstrated their value at KOCH for many years. Broshuis’ flexibility and innovative strength also played a decisive role. “The semi low loaders are designed and built exactly to our requirements, and there are hardly any wishes that cannot be realised,” says Stefan.
Advantages of the variable wheel well
The newly delivered semi low loaders feature customer-specific solutions. Koch explains: “Our goal is to be as flexible as possible in our transport assignments using one multifunctional low loader. That is why all our vehicles are extendable and equipped with features that make daily operations easier and safer.” A good example is the wheel well solution, which has been fully tailored to KOCH’s daily operations. “The variable wheel well offers us major advantages,” Koch explains. “Even machines with limited ground clearance can still be recessed. In addition, we can position the wheel well at different heights, including in the extendable section. This is a big advantage, for example, when loading wheel-handling machines.” The choice of shared aluminium inserts was also carefully considered: “These elements are strong, lightweight, and resistant to weather conditions. Compared to wood, they do not break and are much easier for the driver to handle.”
Customisation driven by experience on the road
What makes this solution particularly special is that the idea originated directly from practical experience. “The shared aluminium insert for the wheel well was originally suggested by an experienced driver who mainly transports construction machinery,” Koch explains. “From that idea, we entered into discussions with Broshuis, and ultimately the vehicles were built exactly to those specifications.” When purchasing new vehicles, the opinion of the drivers therefore plays an important role. “The decision is not made by me alone,” Koch emphasises. “Our drivers are on the road with these vehicles every day. We consciously take their experiences and suggestions into account, so that in the end we have the best possible vehicle for our operations.”
With 25 almost identical 4-axle Broshuis semi low loaders already in their fleet, the delivery of these four new vehicles underlines the long-standing partnership. A partnership built on craftsmanship, listening to the user, and delivering solutions that truly make a difference in daily practice. We wish KOCH Spezialtransporte GmbH & Co. KG many safe and enjoyable kilometres with these new semis!
