Huge challenge
Huge challenge for Schwandner Logistik with a blade of 63 meter. P. Schwandner Logistik + Transport GmbH from Pfreimd, South Germany, specializes in the transport of wind turbines. Schwander can transport every part of the wind turbine and this is unique! With a large and modern fleet, it is one of the largest wind turbine transporters in the world.
Wind turbine trailer
For a day, Broshuis was allowed to come along with the transport of a Vestas V126 blade. The long blade of 63 meters gives some challenges along the way. It is not easy to maneuver the blade through the small villages. This is a major challenge for drivers, but their professional expertise ensures that the wind turbine can reach its destination on time.
To make this challenge easier, Schwandner has opted for a Broshuis trailer equipped with a lifting system. The choice for Broshuis is based on the long relationship between the two companies. The Broshuis trailers are the most robust of its kind and have exceptional steering behavior. To properly describe the collaboration between Schwandner and Broshuis, we take the lifting system as an example.
The lifting system
It happens more and more often that Schwander needs to take turns with difficult lengths in difficult to reach locations. Here, trees, street furniture and sometimes even houses are often in the way. In order to be able to easily avoid these obstacles, we have designed a lifting system in collaboration with Schwandner.
Thanks to this lifting system, the tip of the wing can be raised to a height of 10 meters. With this the tip can go over all these obstacles and fewer objects have to be dismantled. Designing this system was not easy. The wind turbine blade is a very sensitive load and the correct support at predefined positions is the guiding principle.
Thanks to this lifting system, no longer routes have to be driven, but the shortest route can always be chosen, which also benefits the environment.
Thanks to this unique lifting system, Schwander is "Driving Innovation"
