The family-owned company Dick ten Klooster specialises in vertical transport. With telehandlers, mobile tower cranes, and telescopic cranes ranging from 50 to 250 tonnes, the company supports customers in the industrial, shipbuilding, and construction sectors. For horizontal movements of heavy machinery, its own transport is also deployed, with the new 6-axle pendle axle semi low loader now playing a central role.
Confidence in Broshuis
Daily, the Broshuis is used to transport ballast parts of the Liebherr LTM 1250, with a total weight of 100 tonne, as well as moving the 69-tonne Sennebogen 673 R crawler crane. This crane must be transported from project to project several times a year. Thanks to the new combination of a Mercedes Actros with the Broshuis semi low loader, the crane no longer needs to be partially dismantled. “Another advantage is that we can now move more ballast parts in one go,” says Wilfred ten Klooster (owner).
The purchasing process began with approaching three different suppliers. Yet there was already a clear preference for Broshuis. “We were already using a Broshuis trailer, and the factory is just around the corner for us. Just like fellow companies, we received the quotation and had an initial meeting. That confirmed our feeling that Broshuis was the best choice,” Wilfred explains. After a few adjustments to the quotation, the decision was made final.
According to Wilfred, the decisive factors were above all the low tare weight, the high load capacity, and the low deck height. “That is important for us because we can now transport the crawler crane under a long-term permit. The axles underneath give us the advantage of excellent manoeuvrability in tight spaces.”
Flexible and versatile usability
In addition to crane transport, the trailer is also frequently used for transporting ship sections and hulls. Here, the variable deck height offers many extra possibilities. “The advantage of the new trailer is the greater stroke: the difference between the lowest and the highest possible deck position. This gives us more space to position parts.”
The first major transport with the new combination involved the 69-tonne Sennebogen 673 E. That transport went flawlessly. “We are very satisfied with the trailer,” Wilfred concludes.
