Van Grinsven B.V. is a modern and versatile logistics service provider specializing in crane rental, industrial machine storage, national and international transport, and complete factory relocations. To further strengthen and future-proof its fleet, the company recently invested in new Broshuis trailers to replace existing equipment. The investment consists of two 3-axle semi low loaders with independent wheel suspension (SL2), both double extendable, and one 4-axle SL2 semi low loader, triple extendable.
Well-considered replacement
The reason for purchasing the new trailers was the replacement of comparable existing trailers. “When making our decision, low loading height, ease of operation and durability were our main priorities. After a short consultation, Patrick Douma (Broshuis advisor) immediately offered trailers that perfectly matched our requirements,” says Marco van Grinsven (owner).
“The slim neck construction combined with hydraulic suspension made it possible to achieve the lowest possible loading height. We also opted for more robust 245 tyres instead of the previous 205 tyres, which resulted in a clear improvement in usability and reliability. The combination of SL2 axles, the additional specifications and the build quality of Broshuis made the difference for us.”
SL2 strong in daily operations
The experience with the new trailers has been very positive. “They fully meet expectations and offer clear advantages in daily operations. The independent wheel suspension (SL2) in particular is highly appreciated. The combination of a low loading height and height adjustment makes operations easier, while the trailer remains perfectly level at every ride height without tyre wear caused by friction. In addition, the excellent steering angle and stable driving characteristics are regularly mentioned as major advantages,” Marco explains.
This is also confirmed by Frank Elberse, driver at Van Grinsven: “The independent wheel suspension is fantastic when transporting heavy loads where the centre of gravity is not positioned centrally. Thanks to the SL2 axles, I can still level the trailer perfectly. In addition, you can achieve a ride height of 1140 mm, which really helps when crossing obstacles. It is a stable and comfortable trailer that already makes me very happy and proud.”
Smart features appreciated in practice
The drivers also highly value the trailer’s smart features in daily practice. “The ability to adjust the trailer height while extending, or to lift the two rear axles, ensures that the triple extendable trailer can always be extended without any resistance. It works beautifully,” Frank explains. Marco agrees: “Those kinds of details really make the difference in day-to-day operations and significantly improve ease of use.”
The trailers are used daily for a wide variety of loads, including storage tanks, modular homes, crane runway sections, self-propelled machinery, transformers, wind turbine blades and steam boilers. We wish Marco, Frank, and the rest of the Van Grinsven team many safe and enjoyable kilometres with their combinations!
