3 new semi-trailers
G. Vlastuin Transport from Ede specialises in exceptional transport, both domestically and abroad. Whether it concerns wind turbines, milk tanks, or heavy construction cranes, the company is known for its careful approach and reliable execution. In April, their fleet was expanded with three new Broshuis semi low loaders: two 3-axle versions with crane preparation and a compact 2-axle semi low loader for use behind a crane truck.
Versatile and future-proof
The two 3-axle semi low loaders have been specifically tailored to Vlastuin’s requirements. Thanks to the low 205 tyres, they can carry tall loads such as silos or turbine components. In addition, the hydraulic steering assistance provides manoeuvrability in tight spaces, from narrow city centres to the English countryside.
A special feature is the crane preparation on the gooseneck, allowing for the installation of a detachable 50-tonne-metre loader crane. This makes the trailers fully self-sufficient, without exceeding the permitted length of requiring additional permits. “Broshuis has many years of experience in building robust crane trailers. That gives me confidence, because I will have the trailers for the next twenty years. In that case you want a stable and solid trailer, and that is exactly what Broshuis is known for,” says owner Kasper Vlastuin. In addition to the 3-axle trailers, Vlastuin also put a compact 2-axle semi low loader into service. This trailer was specially designed to remain within the legal length dimensions in the Netherlands when used behind a crane truck.
In practice: transporting turbine components
We joined one of the first transports with the new 3-axle semi low loaders: carrying a nacelle and a hub. The journey started at service company Reengineers in Barneveld, where the turbine components had been overhauled and prepared for transport. One trailer carried a nacelle measuring 5.4 metres wide and weighing 18 tonnes, while the other transported a hub measuring 4.2 metres wide and 26 tonnes. With the numerous lashing points, the load was secured firmly and safely. The combinations and the well-considered loading method clearly demonstrate why Vlastuin distinguishes itself in the market as a specialist. Thanks to the steering assistance on the rear axle, the trailers manoeuvre smoothly, even in tight spaces and sharp bends. From Barneveld, the trailer continued to Roozenberg, where the components were loaded onto a vessel for further transport to Northern Ireland.
Long-term partnership between Vlastuin Transport and Broshuis
The partnership between Vlastuin and Broshuis goes back many years. In 1995, Gijs Vlastuin (founder of the family business) purchased his first new Broshuis, at the time still from Ab Broshuis (third generation owner). Today, the fleet includes more than 25 Broshuis trailers, ranging from new to second-hand. Some of them have been in service for more than a quarter of a century. “We often say: a trailer lasts twenty years, but thirty years is certainly no exception. That proves the quality. And that is exactly why we choose Broshuis,” concludes Kasper Vlastuin.
We are grateful that G. Vlastuin Transport has trusted us for so many years. This cooperation shows that quality and partnership go hand in hand. We wish G. Vlastuin Transport many safe and successful kilometres with these new combinations.
