Broshuis is proud to announce the delivery of the first 8-axle Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) trailer to the Dutch Armed Forces. This marks the start of a major programme involving the delivery of 39 HET trailers as part of a broader order consisting of 146 trailers in total, including 11 flatbed trailers, 40 dolly low loaders, 18 semi low loaders with Eco ramps, and 38 Defense trailers.
The HET trailer has been specifically developed for the transport of heavy military vehicles and represents a proven concept within NATO operations. Among other applications, the trailer is suitable for transporting the latest Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks, which will enter service with the Dutch Armed Forces in the coming years.
Developed for Extreme Conditions
In addition to transporting heavy equipment, the trailer is prepared for the integration of a heavy detachable winch system. This enables tanks and other vehicles to be efficiently recovered and relocated under operational conditions.
To guarantee maximum reliability, the HET trailer underwent extensive testing in extreme environments. During winter trials, performance was tested at temperatures down to minus 40 degrees Celsius. Driving characteristics were also evaluated on various test tracks, successfully meeting all required NATO STANAG and MIL-SPEC standards. The test programme also included successfully completing an 18 percent gradient.
Focus on Operational Readiness and Logistic Support
For Defense organisations, long-term operational readiness is just as important as the equipment itself. For this reason, the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) package has been fully developed in accordance with the international S1000D and S2000M standards, ensuring high operational availability and minimal downtime.
The ILS package includes:
• Technical manuals;
• Training programmes;
• Illustrated Parts Books (IPB);
• Supply chain support;
• A multi-year maintenance contract.
Proven Reliability Within NATO Countries
The HET trailer has already proven itself extensively in international operations. Similar systems are currently in service with the armed forces of countries including the United States, Canada, and Denmark. With this delivery, the Dutch Armed Forces gain an exceptionally reliable transport solution designed to perform under the harshest conditions.
