Technician JLTV
While most people only see these vehicles from a distance, you know exactly what happens under the hood. As a Defense Vehicle Mechanic, you are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a fleet that must perform under all conditions. You carry out inspections, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure every vehicle remains safe, reliable, and ready for immediate deployment.
As a Defense Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV). This advanced military vehicle must always be operational, and you play a key role in making that happen. From scheduled maintenance to diagnosing complex technical faults, you ensure the vehicles remain reliable, safe, and in excellent mechanical condition.
You will join a team of skilled specialists and work with modern diagnostic equipment on high-quality vehicles. Your primary focus will be on diesel engine technology, drivetrains, and vehicle systems. No two days are the same—one day you'll be performing scheduled maintenance, while the next you'll be tracking down and resolving a critical technical fault.
In addition, you will participate in an on-call rotation once every two weeks. During these shifts, you will provide technical support and respond to breakdowns outside regular working hours.
What will you do?
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on JLTV vehicles
- Inspect vehicles and assess their technical condition
- Diagnose mechanical and technical faults
- Carry out repairs on diesel engines, drivetrains, braking systems, and suspension components
- Test and inspect vehicles following maintenance and repair work
- Record completed work and technical findings
- Mentor, coach, and train apprentice mechanics and fellow technicians
- Share technical expertise and support colleagues with complex mechanical issues
- Act as the team's technical subject matter expert
