15 Broshuis Heavy Equipment Trailers (HETs)
Kampen – Scania has, on behalf of The Danish Armed Forces, placed an additional order for the delivery of 15 Broshuis Heavy Equipment Trailers (HETs) for the transport of Leopard main battle tanks. The trailers will be delivered later this year. The project is being carried out as a cooperation between Broshuis and Scania, who is responsible for supplying the tractor units.
The additional capacity is required due to the intensive use of the existing fleet. Following the delivery of the 15 new HETs, more than 60 defense trailers supplied by Broshuis will be operational within the Danish Armed Forces, supporting a wide range of transport tasks across the Army, Air Force, and Navy. This follow-on order from the Danish Armed Forces confirms their confidence in the quality and operational capabilities of Broshuis defense trailers.
The Broshuis HET has been specifically developed for the transport of heavy military vehicles, including Leopard main battle tanks. It has a payload capacity of 85 tonnes, which can be increased to 90 tonnes when combined with a heavier tractor unit. This provides a high transport capacity while maintaining a loading deck height of only 900 mm.
The trailer configuration is optimised for both on-road and off-road operations and meets the highest quality standards. The suspension system with 600 mm travel and hydraulic compensation on both the gooseneck and axle assembly ensures continuous wheel contact with the ground, even on gradients of up to 18 percent. Auxiliary steering and automatic wheel alignment further enhance the manoeuvrability of the vehicle combination during transport operations under a wide variety of conditions.
